Segway Ninebot MAX G2 vs F-Series: How to Identify Which Replacement Part Fits Your Scooter
Ordering the wrong scooter part is almost always the same mistake: the Segway Ninebot MAX G2 and the F-Series look similar in photos, but their parts are built to different platforms and rarely swap. A dashboard that seats perfectly on an F30 will not mount on a MAX G2. A throttle that plugs into a MAX G2 controller will not match an F20 harness.
This guide walks you through identifying which family your scooter belongs to, then gives you the exact replacement part for each system. If you only take one thing away: confirm your model before you order, not after.
Step 1: Confirm which scooter you actually have
Before comparing any parts, pin down your model. Three reliable places to look:
- The stem badge. Most Ninebot scooters print the model name on the front of the steering stem or just below the dashboard — MAX G2, F20, F25, F30, or F40.
- The frame label. Flip the scooter and check the sticker on the underside of the deck. It carries the model designation and serial number.
- The Segway-Ninebot app. Pair over Bluetooth and the model name appears on the device screen. This is the most dependable method if your badge is worn or the scooter was bought secondhand.

The two families at a glance
MAX G2 is a single flagship model. Parts listed for the MAX G2 fit that scooter and no other in this comparison.
F-Series covers the F20, F25, F30, and F40. These share a great deal of hardware across the range, which is why a single part number often covers all four. Not every F-Series part spans the entire range, though, so check each listing's stated fitment.
Telling our two replacement controllers apart
This section is for distinguishing our two replacement controller boards from each other — useful if you have both on the bench, or a loose board out of its packaging. It is not a way to identify the scooter itself: for that, the stem badge or the Segway-Ninebot app remains the answer.
MAX G2 replacement controller:
- Green electrolytic capacitors along the top edge
- A large teal capacitor toward the centre of the board
- A small red DIP switch block beside the connector bank
- A QR code label beginning
G2MAX - A smooth, solid heatsink rail along one edge
F-Series replacement controller:
- Blue electrolytic capacitors
- An orange thermal pad beneath the power module — the single most obvious difference
- A finned black heatsink section across the board
- No DIP switch block
The fastest check of all is capacitor colour. Green is the MAX G2 board. Blue is the F-Series board. You can make that call across a workbench without picking either one up.
One caveat worth knowing: component colours reflect the parts in current production, and manufacturers do change component suppliers between batches. Treat these as strong indicators rather than proof.
Controller (ESC / motherboard)
The controller is the brain of the scooter — it manages throttle input, braking, lighting, and motor output. It is also the single most common failure point after a water intrusion or a hard impact. Symptoms include the scooter powering on but refusing to drive, intermittent cutouts, or error codes on the dashboard.
The MAX G2 and F-Series controllers are not interchangeable. They differ in housing, mounting, and harness layout.
Dashboard display
The dashboard carries the speedometer, battery indicator, mode selection, and Bluetooth pairing. Cracked screens and water damage are the usual reasons for replacement. If your scooter runs fine but the display is dead or unreadable, this is the part you want — not the controller.
Thumb throttle
A throttle that sticks, responds inconsistently, or stops registering entirely is usually worn internally rather than a wiring fault. Before replacing it, check the connector at the stem for corrosion — that accounts for a fair share of "dead throttle" complaints.
Tail light
The rear brake lamp is a wear item — exposed to road spray, vibration, and the occasional tip-over. A tail light that stays dark under braking is a safety issue worth fixing quickly, particularly if you ride at dusk.
Front fender (mudguard)
Fenders crack from curb strikes and from riding with a loose mounting bolt. They are inexpensive, and replacing a cracked one early prevents the mount points from tearing out of the frame.
Kickstand
A kickstand that folds under the scooter's weight or refuses to stay retracted is usually a worn spring or a bent leg. Both are replaced as a complete assembly.
Headlight — MAX G2
The MAX G2 uses a stem-mounted front light assembly. A headlight that flickers or cuts out intermittently is often a connector problem rather than a failed LED, so inspect the plug before replacing the unit.
Tires and tubes — F-Series
The F20, F25, F30, and F40 all run a 10 × 2.125 wheel. You have three ways to go:
- Pneumatic tire plus inner tube — best ride quality, but puncturable.
- Inner tube only — the cheapest fix when the casing is still good and you have a flat.
- Solid airless tire — no punctures ever, at the cost of a firmer ride.
Note the valve type when ordering tubes; the tube below uses a straight valve.
